PHILTER x The San Diego Humane Society

As the first and only technology-enabled filtration company to pioneer a new category of micro-sized personal air filtersto eliminate 97% of airborne contaminants and secondhand smoke and smell, we've decided to partner with theSan Diego Humane Societyto donate a portion of our September sales from PHILTER products purchased to further the organization’s mission.

Domestic and wild animals are at risk ashistoric wildfires ravage the West Coast. But it’s not just natural disasters that produce harmful smoke, of course. Smoke from tobacco and cannabis products contains more than 7,000 chemicals; hundreds are known to be toxic and about 70 can cause cancer. Dogs that live in secondhand smoke filled environments are250% more likelyto contract nasal tumors and exposed cats are atrisk of contracting oral cancer.

“We launched The PHILTER Project to partner with organizations that are actively working to create a change in society,” saidAmanda Byrd, Chief Marketing Officer at Philter Labs. “Pets are a crucial part of our families and with people confined to close quarters, we need to do everything in our power to reduce airborne contaminants.”

TheSan Diego Humane Societyis an open-admission shelter that is focused on creating a more humane world and advancing the welfare of animals and people. They have helped San Diego become the largest city in the United States to save animals from undergoing euthanasia by offering safety net programs, and are permitted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to be a wildlife rescue.

“We would not be able to do the work we do without the support of generous partners like Philter Labs,” said Rhea Marie, Philanthropy Specialist at San Diego Humane Society. “We know that the team at PHILTER cares about protecting our pets, wildlife, environment, and others from secondhand and thirdhand smoke, and we're grateful to partner with an organization working to also make a change, especially during these devastating fires.”

The PHILTER Project will donate a percentage of proceeds from PHILTER products purchased through September at no extra cost to customers. Through our social responsibility and advocacy division of Philter Labs, our goal is to give back and help improve communities throughout the country. In August, our partnership with theLast Prisoner Project generated $1,000 in donations to further our mission of releasing unjustly incarcerated cannabis prisoners. In June, The PHILTER Project donated meals viaThe Okra Projectto Black trans people experiencing food insecurity. In May, The PHILTER Project provided veterans suffering from combat-related PTSD free PHILTER PHLIPs to reduce the stigmaassociated with vaping cannabis, through a partnership with theVeterans Cannabis Group. Our April partnership withglobal reforestation non-profitOne Tree Planted helped to plant over 1,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest.

Philter Labs’s next-generation filtration technology, crafted by a team of industry experts, scientists and engineers, is specifically designed to reduce the impact of secondhand smoke and shift the culture of vaping and smoking to one that focuses on collective social responsibility.
